There are other components that you will need to use to complete your query to specify what contacts you’re looking for. These are components like: equal, not equal, begins with, contains, doesn’t contain, is empty, is not empty, less, less or equal, greater, greater or equal, between, not between.

'equal': Used with a query to search for contacts from the exact data you input in the next field. For instance, if you were searching for a specific email address you would select “Email Address” from the dropdown then select “equal” and type in the exact email address you want to find, exactly the way it is stored in the system. (Visual Example below)

'not equal':
Used with a query to search for all contacts excluding the data you input in the next field. For instance, if you were searching for a specific email address you would select “Email Address” from the dropdown then select “not equal” and type in the exact email address you want to find, exactly the way it is. (Visual Example below)

'begins with':
This component is used to search for information that begins with whatever you have inputted on the right. For instance:

This search query would search for all contacts with email addresses that begin with ‘am’.

'contains':
This component is used to search for contacts that contains the information you input on the right relating to the data type on the left that you are searching for. For instance:

The search query above searches for contacts with email addresses that contains “amani.white” within it. This search method isn’t specific and can be used if you’re not sure what the exact email address you are looking for is. It can be used instead of ‘equal’ as equal is specific and your input has to match the exact data within the system otherwise it would show no results.

'doesn’t contain': This component works the same way the ‘contains’ component works except in reverse. This component searches for every contact except those that contains data for the information that you input on the right relating to the data type on the left. For instance:

This search query searches for every contact except those whose email address contains ‘Amani’.

'is empty':
This component searches for contacts with empty data field in regard to the data type you’re searching for. For example:

'equivalent':

This query searches for all the contacts with no data in the email address field (this should return no contacts as every contact needs an email address to be in the system).

'is not empty': Much like the ‘is empty’ component, the ‘is not empty’ component will search for all contacts with populated data field in regard to the data type you’re searching for. For example:

This query searches for all the contacts that have data within the email address field, this will show you all your contacts as a contact cannot be added into the system without an email address.

'Less': Used to search for contacts on a date/time basis. You would need the ‘Less’ field to find contacts previous to the date/time you want to find information about. For instance, if you are looking for contacts that clicked on an email campaign previous to the 5th of February 2019. You would need this query:

This search query will bring results of contacts that have clicked on an email campaign before the 5th February 2019 but not including the 5th.

'less or equal': This works in the same way the Less field works. The ‘Less or equal’ field would bring results that are before and including the date that you will specify. For instance,

This search query will bring results of contacts that have clicked on an email campaign from the 5th of February 2019 and before that date.

'greater': The greater component is much like the ‘less than’ component, but in reverse. With the ‘greater’ query you can use this to find information about contacts after the date/time you want but not including the date you input. For example:

This search query will bring results of contacts that have clicked on an email campaign after the 5th of February 2019 but not including the 5th.

'greater or equal': This component is used to find information on a contact from a certain date/time onwards. The difference between this component and the greater component is that this includes the date that you specify. For instance:

This query searches for contacts that have clicked on an email campaign from the 5th of February 2019 and onwards, this includes the 5th.

'between': Used to search for contacts on a date/time basis. You would need the ‘between’ component to find contacts between the two dates/times you want to find information about. For example:

This query searches for contacts that have clicked on an email campaign between the 5th of February 2019 and the 5th of March 2019.

'not between': This component is much like the ‘between’ component but in reverse. The not between is used to search for contacts on a date/time basis. You would need the ‘not between’ component to find contacts except for between the two dates/times you want to find information about. For example:

This query searches for contacts that have clicked on an email campaign excluding those that have clicked on an email campaign between the 5th of February 2019 and the 5th of March 2019.
